What areas do you serve?
I focus on select neighborhoods in Loudoun County and Fairfax County so I can stay local and be responsive. For smaller one-item visits, I typically work closer to home. For larger task lists, I’m often able to travel a bit farther. How does Pay What You Want actually work?
After the work is complete, you decide what feels fair based on the value you received and what you can afford. There is no fixed rate and no expectation communicated beforehand.Do I have to sign a contract or agree to any terms?
No contracts need to be signed or agreements need to be made. Everything is completely on your terms. What do people typically contribute?
It varies. Some neighbors contribute more to help sustain the model and support others. Some contribute less. Occasionally someone may not be able to contribute at all. The decision is entirely yours. What if I cannot afford to contribute anything?
That is okay. You will receive the same care and respect regardless of what you choose to give.Is this a nonprofit?
No. Your NoVA Neighbor is a mission driven business, not a charity.Operating as a nonprofit would add administrative overhead, restrictions, and additional costs that would ultimately reduce flexibility. The Pay What You Want model already allows neighbors to contribute based on what they can afford, without formal income verification, applications, or red tape.It also allows people who do not want charity to simply pay what feels fair. For some, that independence matters. How do you keep business sustainable with Pay What You Want?
Your NoVA Neighbor is designed to be flexible and neighborly. Some people schedule occasional help. Others choose to contribute regularly or tip generously. To keep the business sustainable, I balance my schedule between returning neighbors, new neighbors, and those who contribute toward the service. I also try to keep visits to one hour or less so that I'm able to assist multiple people each day. Like any small local business, it needs paying jobs to continue operating. My goal is to make practical help accessible while also ensuring I can continue serving the community long term. Why do you focus on small tasks?
I focus on smaller tasks so I can help more neighbors. Many people just need a quick helping hand with something simple that they cannot easily do on their own. By keeping visits shorter, I’m able to help several people in a day instead of spending multiple days on a single project. There is also no shortage of qualified contractors for larger jobs like remodels, major repairs, or specialized work. Those professionals are the right choice for bigger projects. Finally, the Pay What You Want model works best with smaller tasks. Because contributions are optional, spending multiple days on a single job would make the model difficult to sustain.Who do you typically work with?
I primarily help seniors and individuals recovering from injuries who need assistance with tasks they cannot easily handle on their own. I am also happy to help other neighbors if it is a good fit.Are you licensed?
I am not a licensed specialist contractor, but I do possess a business license and have insurance. I focus on straightforward tasks that do not require specialized licensing. If something requires a licensed professional, I can recommend one if I know someone who might be a good fit.Are you insured?
Yes. I carry insurance so you can feel comfortable having me in your home. How quickly can you schedule?
Availability varies week to week. I do my best to respond within 24 hours and will let you know the earliest realistic time I can help. I also try my best to help on very short notice in emergencies, but it isn’t always guaranteed based on my schedule.Who will be showing up at my house to complete tasks?
It will always be me.If the business grows and I bring on helpers to meet community demand, you will always know in advance exactly who is scheduled to come to your home.If a task requires a licensed specialist, you are welcome to use one of my trusted partners, but the choice is always yours. You’ll always know who is coming, and you’ll never be surprised. Can family members be present during the visit?
Absolutely. What if a task turns out to be bigger than expected?
If something expands beyond what I can reasonably handle, I will pause and talk it through with you before proceeding. If it is beyond my abilities, I will tell you and try to work with you to find the help you need. Why are you doing this?
After years working in tech, I realized I wanted to spend more of my time doing something more meaningful and people focused.I enjoy solving problems. And I genuinely enjoy meeting and helping people in my community. The income allows me to keep doing this work. But the real value for me is the ability to serve others and build real, human connections along the way.If you would like to learn more about my background, you can visit the About page. How can I help?
